30 Days of Thanks

by Sierra Hansen

This year, I’ve noticed a trend among many of my Facebook friends to post daily status updates of something they are thankful. I’ve seen touching comments about family, veterans, companies, and voters in different states. So far, these posts are endearing and earnest, but I imagine they will become a little more playful or funny as the month progresses.

It appears this trend called ’30 Days of Thanks’ was founded by online writer, Anastacia Brice, last year. However, it caught fire on Facebook, and continues to provide a nice counter-balance to the vitriolic political discourse around the 2012 elections. I personally didn’t post this year, but plan to participate next year because I believe it is important to take time to reflect appreciatively on our lives.
